Guildford Pancake Day Race 2012

Crowds gathered on Guildford High Street today for the traditional Guildford Pancake Day Race, which occurs every year on Shrove Tuesday.

Local residents, school children and businesses joined the celebrations, taking part in a series of races down the high street whilst tossing pancakes.

One lucky contestant who won the ‘Surrey Sports Park Sprint’ won a 1 year full membership at Surrey Sports Park, whilst other prizes up for grabs included tickets to Guilfest 2012 and restaurant vouchers.

Surrey Sports Park and Surrey Storm Mascot Storm the Stag featured in the mascot race at the end of the event, placing in a respectable second alongside 96.4 Eagle Radio’s Eggbert the Eagle, White Lion Walk’s Lionel, Guildford Spectrum’s Speccy, and the race winner Blott.
