University Sports Scholar receives Duck Tour Sponsorship

GB Canoeist and University of Surrey student Jonny Tye is the first recipient of a sponsorship grant provided by the famous London Duck Tours.

The funding will allow Jonny to continue what has been an excellent year for the young paddler, who recently returned from the World Championships in Singapore with a silver medal, narrowly missing out on the gold.

John Bigos, Managing Director of London Duck Tours, said: “We recognise the importance of ensuring that young sports people get the support and funding that they need to train and compete. Staying fit and injury-free is tough in such a competitive environment and we hope that by helping Jonny to gain access to excellent facilities he can continue to perform at his best.

Encouraging this sort of development makes good business sense too. Sport develops transferable skills that young people can then take into the work place. We actively encourage this at London Duck Tours.”

Jonny responded saying: “I’d like to thank London Duck Tours for supporting me with this sponsorship. This will help me to train to a high standard while I study and aid my chances of bring home more medals for Team GB.”
