2012 FIAT Netball Superleague fixtures announced

The 2012 FIAT Netball Superleague fixtures have been announced for the forthcoming season and they have provided some interesting fixtures for Storm fans.

The campaign starts with a mouth-watering repeat of this year’s Grand Final as Hertfordshire Mavericks welcome Storm live in front of the Sky Sports cameras at the Hertfordshire Sports Village.

The new league format means Storm are set for three home fixtures during the first stage of the season, with the first home game at Surrey Sports Park scheduled for Saturday 28 January at 7.00pm versus Loughborough Lightning.

Storm will also welcome league newcomers Yorkshire Jets on Saturday 11 February, before Celtic Dragons head to Surrey on Monday 27 February.

The fixture list has also thrown up some tough initial away fixtures, with Storm set to travel to all of last season's other top four teams; Hertfordshire Mavericks, Team Bath and Northern Thunder.

R7 Sat 3 Mar 6pm vs Team Northumbria (A)

*Stage 2 (Round 8 - 13) fixtures to be confirmed upon initial league placing after Round 7.

At this stage of the season the Superleague will be divided into two tiers. The top four teams after Round 7 will enter Tier 1 and play home and away against each other. Likewise, the bottom four teams will enter Tier 2 and follow the same competition format.

After these fixtures are completed, the top three teams from Tier 1 will automatically qualify for the Grand Final weekend. The fourth placed team from Tier 1 will then enter the FNSL play-off against the team which finishes at the top of Tier 2. This play-off will be in front of the Sky Sports cameras on Monday 14th May.

All roads in this year’s FNSL lead to the Superleague Showdown weekend, and on the 19th/20th May the journey comes to an end. On Saturday there will be two semi-finals between the top ranked team from Tier 1 against the winner of the Eliminator match and the sides ranked second and third from Tier 1. The winners of the two games then head into the Grand Final on Sunday where the winners of the FIAT Netball Superleague 2012 will be crowned. A new format with a mixture of fresh faces and experienced head will ensure that FNSL 2012 will be the most exciting, innovative and unpredictable yet!
