Harlequins Heineken Cup journey begins as draws announced

08 June 2011

The 2011/12 Heineken Cup pools were announced yesterday at Twickenham Stadium.

Harlequins, who train at Surrey Sports Park, found themselves drawn in Pool 6 and will face four time Heineken Cup Champions, Toulouse, along with Gloucester and Connacht.

Commenting on the draw, Harlequins Director of Rugby Conor O'Shea said:

"Winning the Amlin Challenge Cup in Cardiff against Stade Francais was a great moment for everyone involved at the club and was a wonderful way to secure our place in next season's Heineken Cup."

"The Heineken Cup is the elite club competition in Europe and qualifying for it puts us in competition with the best teams in Europe. As a club we aspire to be the best and there is only one place the players want to be and that is putting themselves against the best"

"We have a young, ambitious and exciting team, which will relish next season's challenges."
